Festiwal200 website

Festival 200 is a project in which the website serves many more functions than a traditional festival website. Its primary purpose is to organise a large amount of information about events, artists and venues, and to present it in a way that is clear and intuitive for the user.

As part of the project, we created a bespoke WordPress theme, designed from scratch with the specific requirements of the project in mind. A key element was building a system of links between events, venues and artists, as well as ensuring the website was accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL

What it looked like process?

One of the biggest challenges was organising the complex data structure. A single event may be linked to a specific venue, artist or other elements of the programme, so a system was needed that would allow these relationships to be managed in a straightforward manner.

The second key requirement was availability of the service. The website was to be designed with the needs of users of assistive technologies in mind, as well as to accommodate various ways of navigating the site.

It was also important to create a solution that would be user-friendly for WordPress administrators. With a large number of events, manually duplicating the same information would quickly become inefficient, so the website’s structure had to allow for the reuse and automatic consolidation of data.

Solution

We have created dedicated WordPress theme, created specifically to meet the needs of Festival 200. Rather than basing the design on a ready-made template, we designed the website’s structure to reflect the actual way in which events and content are presented.

A key element was the implementation of a system of interconnections between events, artists and venues. This allows information to be presented in the form of a coherent, integrated grid — the user can navigate from an event to an artist, from an artist to other events, or directly to a venue.

We have also placed great emphasis on availability. The website’s interface and structure have been designed to ensure easy navigation, clear content and proper compatibility with assistive technologies.
The whole system has been designed so that expanding the website to include further events and related information does not require creating the same content from scratch.

A flexible platform has been created which allows events to be presented in the context of artists and venues, rather than treating each piece of information as a separate page.

The integrated linking system makes it easier for users to discover new features of the programme, whilst allowing administrators to manage the extensive content database more efficiently.

A bespoke WordPress theme provided full control over the website’s design and functionality, whilst incorporating accessibility requirements enabled us to create a site that is more user-friendly for a variety of audiences.

As a result, Festival 200 received a dedicated tool for presenting events, which combines an information layer, a content management system and an extensive network of links within a single, cohesive website.
